Find the exact number of days, weeks and months between any two dates.
The calculator uses real calendar arithmetic across leap years and uneven months — no 30-day approximations. The day count is the true elapsed days between the two dates; the years-months-days breakdown follows the same convention offices use for service periods.
Example: 1 January 2026 to 18 September 2026 is exactly 260 days — 8 months and 17 days.
Visa and stay limits: many visas count “days in country” — an exact day count keeps you compliant.
Contracts and notice periods: 30/60/90-day clauses, rental agreements, warranty windows and refund deadlines.
Personal: countdown to exams, weddings, EMI free dates, subscription renewals; anniversaries counted in days (the 1000-day milestone deserves cake).
Leap years add a day every four years (except century years not divisible by 400), which quietly shifts long-range counts. This calculator handles 29 February automatically.
If either date falls at the end of a month, the years-months-days breakdown follows the standard convention of borrowing from the previous month's actual length.
The Gregorian rule is three-layered: a year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4, except century years (divisible by 100), which must be divisible by 400. So 2016, 2020, 2024 and 2000 are leap years, while 1900 and 2100 are not. This gives an average year of 365.2425 days, astonishingly close to Earth's true tropical year of about 365.2422 days.
Over long spans this precision matters: the older Julian calendar added too many leap days and drifted 10 days off the seasons by 1582, the reason October 4, 1582 was followed by October 15, 1582 in Catholic Europe. Our calculator uses pure Gregorian arithmetic across all dates, including these edge cases.
Businesses usually need working days, not calendar days: subtract the Sundays (52 in most years) and the roughly 15-20 public holidays plus your company's leave policy, and a year contains about 245-255 working days in India. Notice periods, interest calculations, and project timelines all hinge on which definition you use.
India's financial year runs 1 April to 31 March, and income earned in a financial year is assessed in the following assessment year (AY) — so FY 2026-27 pairs with AY 2027-28. When a deadline says 60 days, check whether it means calendar days (including Sundays) or working days, because the difference over two months is nearly three weeks.
